Top 10 Home Buyer Turn-Offs

In today's housing market, Buyers feel they are in a position to make demands on Sellers not seen in a while (and they do!!). But even before they get to that stage, back to walking in the front door, comes the 'first impression' that can kill further interest in your home. Here's Wayne's top 10 list of things to avoid when selling your home, in abreviated form:
- Wacky paint colours. I'm colour blind but orange and purple still don't work.
- Dirt. Even if it's not obvious, Buyers can 'sense' it.
- Odd or oppressive smells. Smoking, pets, cooking, perfumes, etc. can make Buyers walk.
- Unkempt exterior. Get that old car off the lawn!!
- Too many pets. They like to greet. Not so good.
- Wrong-headed renos. Just don't.
- Dark and dingy interiors. Do what you can, light colours, clean windows, etc.
- Horrid basements. You decluttered upstairs and put it all here. Dejunk.
- Dirty appliances. Get the 'furry friends' out of the fridge. Buyers look.
- Swimming pool. Cuts down on interested Buyers.
