Recession's coming! Don't kill the messenger!
One two three four, stock market got my money and there ain't no more! No intention to make light of folks who are hurt by the meltdown, it's serious and it's real.
However, we Canadans show remarkable resiliency during challenging times. There may be a bit of 'circle the wagons' mentality, but that can be good!
Most would agree that housing, transportation, and food are the three biggies out of our disposible income. So here's a guilt list to get things going.
Food - A Canadian family of four throws out an average of $600 in unspoiled food each year.
Autos - We drive to the store for a $2.50 loaf of bread and spend another $2.50 on gas. What the hell?!
Homes - Don't have 20 grand for a geo- thermal system? Weatherstripping costs the $2.50 just saved on gas!
This kind of stuff can be like our recycling boxes, once we get started it becomes the norm; and when we come out the other side, we're the better for it. Planet earth too!
